Did you know that Yeshua quoted the book of Deuteronomy more than any other book of the Torah? His Father, Our Creator guided the hand of Moses to write down what is known as the Torah (Genesis-Deuteronomy). If you know The Messiah, you know He spoke in John 5:
“But don’t think that it is I who will be your accuser before the Father. Do you know who will accuse you? Moshe, the very one you have counted on! For if you really believed Moshe, you would believe me; because it was about me that he wrote. But if you don’t believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?” John 5:45-47
At that time I stood between Adonai and you in order to tell you what Adonai was saying; because, on account of the fire, you were afraid and wouldn’t go up onto the mountain. He said,
I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, where you lived as slaves.
You are to have no other gods before me. You are not to make for yourselves a carved image or any kind of representation of anything in heaven above, on the earth beneath or in the water below the shoreline — you are not to bow down to them or serve them; for I, Adonai your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sins of the parents, also the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but displaying grace to the thousandth generation of those who love me and obey my mitzvot.
You are not to misuse the name of Adonai your God, because Adonai will not leave unpunished someone who misuses his name.
Observe the day of Shabbat, to set it apart as holy, as Adonai your God ordered you to do. You have six days to labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Shabbat for Adonai your God. On it you are not to do any kind of work — not you, your son or your daughter, not your male or female slave, not your ox, your donkey or any of your other livestock, and not the foreigner staying with you inside the gates to your property — so that your male and female servants can rest just as you do. You are to remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and Adonai your God brought you out from there with a strong hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore Adonai your God has ordered you to keep the day of Shabbat.
Honor your father and mother, as Adonai your God ordered you to do, so that you will live long and have things go well with you in the land Adonai your God is giving you.
Do not murder
Do not commit adultery
Do not steal.
Do not give false evidence against your neighbor.
Do not covet your neighbor’s wife; do not covet your neighbor’s house, his field, his male or female slave, his ox, his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’“These words Adonai spoke to your entire gathering at the mountain from fire, cloud and thick mist, in a loud voice; then it ceased. But he wrote them on two stone tablets, which he gave to me. Deuteronomy 5:6-22
In Exodus we read about the first time these words were given when their fathers made The Covenant with Adonai just after they were taken out of bondage. Exodus 20:22 tells:
Adonai said to Moshe, “Here is what you are to say to the people of Isra’el: ‘You yourselves have seen that I spoke with you from heaven.
Did you catch that… the children of Israel not only heard God’s voice, they saw it! Spoken from Heaven. As if the thunder, the lightening, the Shofar blast from heaven, the fire, smoke (as from a furnace), and the quaking of the earth wasn’t enough, the sound waves of God’s voice were seen from The Throne Room! Pause….meditate on that picture….
Now fast forward several years later, after the Messiah Yeshua’s ascension. It is the same time of year on the calendar when Adonai’s voice was seen and heard by the children of Israel. Let’s go to the book of Acts and look at the similarity of what the Christian Church recognizes as Pentecost.
The festival of Shavu‘ot arrived, and the believers all gathered together in one place. Suddenly there came a sound from the sky like the roar of a violent wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then they saw what looked like tongues of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them. They were all filled with the Ruach HaKodesh and began to talk in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak. Acts 2:1-4
The feast day was Shavu’ot (Pentecost). A sound came from the sky like a roar of a violent wind and it filled the house/temple where they were sitting. Verse 12 says they were ” amazed and confused”. They went on asking each other, “what does this mean?” Can you imagine the conversation? I imagine it went a lot like the conversations the children of Israel were having when they saw and heard the voice of Adonai at Mount Sinai. Alas, Peter comes to the resque and fills them in about what the prophet Joel spoke:
“So it will be afterward, I will pour out My Ruach (Holy Spirit) on all flesh: your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. “Also on the male and the female servants will I pour out My spirit in those days. I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth— blood, fire and pillars of smoke. The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and awesome day of Adonai comes. Then all who call on Adonai’s Name will escape, for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be rescue, as Adonai has said, among the survivors whom Adonai is calling.” Joel 3:1-5/Acts 2:17-21
Peter knew Yeshua had been exalted to the “Right hand of God” and they just seen and heard and received what was promised, The Ruach HaKodesh, poured out as a gift. Here’s what happened next:
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the rest of the emissaries, “Fellow brethren, what shall we do?” Peter said to them, “Repent, and let each of you be immersed in the name of Messiah Yeshua for the removal of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Ruach ha-Kodesh. For the promise is for you and your children, and for all who are far away—as many as Adonai our God calls to Himself.” With many other words he warned them and kept urging them, saying, “Save yourselves from this twisted generation!” Acts 2:37-40
The New Covenant was made with the children of Israel at Mount Sinai. This Covenant is the bridal covenant between the bride and the Bridegroom. Given so we will follow Our Creators Way! The Ruach was also given in the book of Acts as promised, the very essence of the Bridegroom! Given in tongues of fire! Given to help us walk out the Torah!
“Behold, days are coming” —it is a declaration of Adonai— “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— not like the covenant I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they broke My covenant, though I was a husband to them.” it is a declaration of Adonai. “But this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days” —it is a declaration of Adonai— “I will put My Torah within them. Yes, I will write it on their heart. I will be their God and they will be My people. Jeremiah 31:31-33
Let your faithfulness to your Beloved Bridegroom be renewed. Fan the flame of Spirit! It is time to get fired up! Hold tight to the covenant the Father has promised for you if you walk in His Ways. Let the Torah that was written on your heart and the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), given so graciously, guide you! Today!
Happy Day
