Emanate Life

I seem to daydream.. not your ordinary daydreams,  I sometimes wonder about things that happened long ago. Yesterday morning while I was getting ready for work, creating some kind of “look” with the curls I had made…

(I’ve really been enjoying the length my hair has grown to, because you can play)…ok, back to the point.. My thoughts went to Eve.
The Aish Rabbi notes:

The original biblical name of Eve is “Chava.” As with most of the names in the Torah, the Torah explains the significance of this name, which was given to her by Adam.

“The man called his wife’s name Chava, because she had become the mother of all the living” (Genesis 3:20). The root of this name is connected with the word Chaya which means living, and the word “Chai” which means life. “Chava” is in causative form – i.e. she caused all the people in the future to live. (source: “Rashi” Genesis 3:20 with “Siftei Chachamim”)

The Midrash Talpiot explains that Adam could speak all the languages that would ever come into existence. Nevertheless, one day he saw that the animals were crying, and he couldn’t figure out what they were saying. Chava said to him, “They are crying because they are hungry.” Adam immediately recognized that she was right and gave her the name “Chaya” because she was a nurturer.

There is so much you can learn from the Hebrew text… I wonder…. what Chava must have looked like, her body, her hair! She was made from man in the image of Adonai. To me, she represents the Bride. I imagine her to be like a beautiful warrior princess! The hair was long, healthy, vibrant,  strong, and glistened like diamonds. Adorned in all righteousness!
I look around today and I’m saddened when I see how “this world” really seems to take its toll on people.  Women (and men) even back in the 50’s & 60’s  got “dressed up and showed up” for work,  school, or to simply “go to the market”. They didn’t even have the modern conveniences of today. What on earth has happened? Have we forgotten why we were created?
A woman was born to emanate life! She is to be a nurturer!  How then can a woman truly nurture and give life to those around her when she is not nurturing her own self.
Nurture: to feed, protect, support, encourage(during training), to bring up, train, educate.

Love your neighbor as yourself, says Adonai!

Nurture yourself, so you can nurture others! You were created by Love for Love! If you have forgotten how wonderfully made you are, please visit Psalm 139 in your Bible! The Bridegroom is coming and you want to be ready! Dress up and show up! Everyday!  Emanate Life, beloved, for you were born to be The Bride!
