- in God, Messiah, Torah, Yeshua
- by Hallelujah Girl
I grew up in a Lutheran Church. I give all Glory to God for always abiding in me and around me! It was in the church I was taught “liturgy” and “doctrine” set forth by Martin Luther in the day of the Reformation. While I am grateful that readings from the Torah, the Prophets, and the New Testament are still being read there today. Is the “true” relationship with Our Messiah, The Bridegroom, is He being exhaled in the “church” as a whole? A friend messaged me this week, wondering if God’s “laws” have been truly “done away with”? Seriously, what are the churches teaching? Week after week as I study the Torah, His Words become real. Studying His Word you begin to see and feel what really hurts the heart of Our Creator. God’s “laws”, His Torah is A Covenant that has been fulfilled by the blood of Yeshua. Do you see why Our Messiah chose to speak LIFE in His parables. He desires a bride! A bride that will follow His Liturgy! This is the relationship! Hello………, did you “give your heart to Jesus”,…. so now what? Just be a good person… help others… then what? I have been to your churches and you sing and pray, “I want to know You more”, or “I want more of You and less of me”. Here we go! Or should I say let’s enter in to His Liturgy!
Deuteronomy 26:1–29:8, also known as: “Ki Tavo”, meaning, “When you Come“, or “When you Enter” seems like a beautiful way to begin. In the Hebrew, Ki Tavo comes from the root word “bo”, The first appearance of the word bo in the bible is in Genesis 2:19:
“So from the ground Adonai, God, formed every wild animal and every bird that flies in the air, and he brought them to the man to see what he would call them.”
Then again it is used in Genesis 2:22:
“The rib which Adonai, God had taken from the person, he made a woman-person; and he brought her to the man.”
According to Strongs, #935, bo means to abide, apply, be, befall, besiege, bring forth, in. It is clear bo is not the direction or the speed of movement. The Hebrew shows it is the actual impact upon the person involved and the “world” that will result from that movement. Immediately after the movement here in Genesis, look how Adam says, “At last! This is bone from my bones and flesh from my flesh. She is to be called Woman (Ishah), because she was taken out of Man (Ish).” I imagine that was a pretty wonderful moment for these two! Just the beginning of transforming movement from one place to another!
Moses words given in this portion, Ki Tavo, give us specific instructions as how we are to keep our focus on Torah. Two portions ago we learned how to place Torah upon all our openings and then we were given instruction how we are to carry Torah when we go out. Of course, Ki Tavo Moses provides liturgy– Words that connect us with the writer (God) AND with all those who have ever participated in it. These liturgies are “Good and Perfect things that come from Above”! Hallelujah!
“Be quiet and listen! Today you have become the people of Adonai your God. Therefore you are to listen to what Adonai your God says and obey his mitzvot and laws, which I am giving you today” Deuteronomy 27:9.
Today? Which day? Yes! It was on that day. Freedom! Grace! Inheritance! No circumcision, no baptism, no confirmation, no first communion, no membership roster, AND it was given also to the foreigner (gentile) living among them! This day, Favor and Grace were upon the chosen children of Israel. Adonai was giving them their inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey! You may want to loosen the reigns of your man made doctrines and theologies and listen to the voice of The Holy One!… Have blessings come and overtaken your life? Is all that you set your hands upon blessed? Do others stand in awe of you because they see you are called by the name of Adonai? Paul, a Jew, says in 2 Timothy 2:1,
“be empowered by the grace that comes from the Messiah, Yeshua (“Jesus Christ”).”
The word Grace here in the Greek, is “charis”. Charis comes from the word “Chairo” meaning graciousness, of manner or act (the divine influence upon the heart)—acceptable, benefit, favor, gift, joy, liberality, pleasure. These instructions Moses just delivered are just as beneficial for us day, Today and Everyday! The portion Ki Tavo, contains the divine benefits, the grace, the picture of Yeshua, gifts that lead to the Kingdom! Look at the “woman” in Revelation 12:17,
“The dragon was infuriated over the woman and went off to fight the rest of her children, those who obey God’s commands (Torah/law) and bear witness to Yeshua (Grace).”
A worthy bride has a balance of law and grace. A worthy bride is a man who moves himself to shama! To listen, obey, and keep His Father’s Mitzvot (“law”/Torah) and have the Testimony of Yeshua (Grace)! Beloved, if you desire the full measure of Grace, you must Shama!
Are you still singing “I Want To Know You More!”? Take a moment and read, Deuteronomy 28:1-14. For your consideration: The version I was reading used the following action words: listen, observe, do, keep, walk, a total of ten times. Moses is commanding us to do something here, 10 times! The number 10 in Hebrew is viewed as a complete and perfect number. It signifies testimony, law, responsibility and the completeness of order. There is much reference to the number 10 in the Bible: The number is used 242 times! In Genesis 1, you will find the phrase, God said, 10 times. God gave 10 commandments/words, therefore it represents the responsibility of man to keep them. We are commanded to tithe 10 percent of our income. The Passover Lamb was selected on the 10th day of the 1st month (Exodus 12:3), as was Yeshua, the Lamb (John 12). The 10th day of the 7th month (Hebrew calendar) is the Day of Atonement— This unique day of fasting pictures the removal of Satan, the author of sin, before the Millennial reign of Yeshua begins (Revelation 20:1-2). The last great ruling kingdom of man under Satan is symbolized prophetically by the 10 toes of Daniel 2 and the 10 horns of Revelation 13 and 17. Whew…! …and that is just a few!
“Now if you listen diligently to the voice of Adonai your God, taking care to observe and to do all His mitzvot that I am commanding you today…..”, (Deuteronomy 28:1)
“Listen” In the Hebrew the word is Shama (שָׁמַע). Shama translated means much more than to just listen with your ears! According to Strongs it involves: attentively, call, gather together, carefully, certainly, consent, consider, and to hear intelligently (often with implication of attention, obedience, etc.; causatively, to tell, etc.)… It goes on, I do hope you get the picture. To Shama is to listen as if your life depends on it!
“Observe” The root of this Hebrew word is “Shamar“, meaning: to keep, watch, and/or preserve.
“To do”: In the Hebrew these two words form the word “asah“, Strongs #6213. (עָשָׂה), meaning: accomplish.
Three commands all in one verse! Listen, observe, and do! Hmmm… then what?… Grace! —benefits, favor, gifts, pleasure, blessings! All in the physical, even today, they are available! This is why Yeshua gave His life! So you can receive His gifts of Grace! Taste and See His Sweetness:
…….. “Adonai will set you–High above all the nation’s of the earth” — Deuteronomy 28:1
in verse two, we are told again, “listen”, Shama! Be attentive and hear intelligently in obedience and —All these blessings shall come and overtake you! —Deuteronomy 28:2
Carefully consider this list of blessings beloved:
- Blessed will you be in the city.
- Blessed will you be in the field.
- Blessed will be the fruit of your body.
- Blessed will be the fruit of your ground.
- Blessed will be the fruit of your beasts.
- Blessed will be the increase of your cows (for those of you with cows).
- Blessed will be the increase of the flocks of your sheep.
- Blessed shall be your basket.
- Blessed shall be your store.
- Blessed are you when you come in.
- Blessed are you when you go out.
- Adonai Himself will command the blessing upon you in your barns
- All that you set your hand on will be blessed by Him.
- Your enemies..when they rise against you.. will be struck before your face.
- Your enemies will come one way against you and flee before you seven different ways.
- Adonai will proclaim blessing upon you in your barns.
- Adonai will proclaim a blessing upon all you set your hand.
- Adonai will bless you in the land He gives to you. Deuteronomy 28:3-8
- Adonai will establish you Holy for Himself.
Wait!!! Here, another command, (verse 9) “you shall keep” tiš·ma (תִשְׁמֹ֗ר). At the root, we find “shamar”, meaning beware, be circumspect, take heed to self, keeper, self, mark, look narrowly, observe. In addition we find another command, “and walk” halak ( וְהָלַכְתָּ֖ ) with also a deeper meaning: all along, a pace, behave self, come, on continually, be conversant, depart. Here we see we are to continually observe all The Father says! It is for our good! The blessing just keep coming on this path!
- Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you are called by the name of Adonai! They will stand in awe of you!
- Adonai will make you plenteous in goods.
- He will make you prosper! —in the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock and the produce of your soil—on the land Adonai swore to your fathers to give you .
- Adonai will open to you his good treasure~The Heaven and give the rain to your land in its season! To bless all the work of your hand.
- You will lend to many nations and you do not borrow. Deuteronomy 28:10-12
- Adonai will make you the head and not the tail.
- You shall be only above, never beneath.
Once again being called to:
“listen”, shama (שָׁמַע) — Unto all the commands that The Lord Your God commands you this day— AND — To “observe”, shamar (לִשְׁמֹ֕ר) beware, be circumspect, take heed to self, keeper, mark, look narrowly, & observe. Shamar’s primitive root meaning: properly, to hedge about (as with thorns), i.e. Guard; generally, to protect, attend to, etc. One more additional command my friends,— “And do”, וְלַעֲשׂ֑וֹת) 6213), Asah! Meaning to accomplish, advance, appoint, apt, be at, become, bear, bestow! Deuteronomy 28,13
Verse 14, Moses gets down to the heart of the matter. First he says, ‘Shama! Tiš·ma (תִשְׁמֹ֗ר)! Listen!‘ (we know now, this means,”listen as your life depends on it”!). Then an almighty: Do not go aside from any of the words I command you this day— To the right or to the left— To go after other gods and serve them.
This season, as we approach Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, both Holy days to Our Lord! It is a season of forgiveness, thankfulness, joy and newness. On God’s calendar they are days when the old year is gone and the new year begins. These days are important to Him! He commands us to observe these days as Holy. In my life, growing up in the christian church, I never really knew my Messiah, The Bridegroom. The church taught me the way they do things. If you seek Yeshua (Jesus), you find Him. Those “Laws” are how we prepare ourselves to enter in to His Kingdom and dine at the wedding supper of The Lamb. Perfection in keeping Torah was taken care of by Him, His blood made atonement! How do you repay? You prayerfully Shama!
One final blessing! In studying the Hebrew text, at the very end of Deuteronomy 14, there is one closed final mem (ס). It doesn’t seem to be translated into anything, it is just there. The letter mem is a picture of flowing water, the closed final mem represents an underground stream, the womb, unconscious states of being; the power of reproduction, the arrival of the “Mashiach”, the Messiah, Yeshua and The waters of “teshuvah” (repentance). —It’s ALL about YESHUA!
Hallelujah! Happy Day!

These statues were hidden in the garden of the Mayor of Shemron, Israel. We visited his home during my mission trip with HaYovel. Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil. Place Torah as your guard! His Laws destroy evil and bring grace!
