On only three occasions does Torah speak of a call to Moses. Each involves a summons to preform a momentous act. First the burning bush (Exodus 3,4) and second was the call at Mount Sinai, just before the Divine Words were revealed to him (Exodus 19,3) The third call occurs here, as Moses is about to be introduced the commands dealing with the offering, the sacrificial service.
The last call is especially solemn. It stands as the heading of the third book of the Torah. Vayikra , ויקרא, is usually translated, “and He called”. Let’s explore the Hebrew letters and see what we uncover.

And He said to His taught ones, “For this reason I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you shall eat; nor about the body, what you shall put on. “The life is more than the food, and the body is more than the clothing. “Look at the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor granary, and Elohim feeds them. How much more valuable are you than the birds? “And which of you by worrying is able to add one cubit to his life’s span? “If then you are unable to do the least, why do you worry about the rest? “Look at the lilies, how they grow. They neither toil nor spin, and I say to you, even Shelomoh in all his esteem was not dressed like one of these. “And if Elohim so clothes the grass, which today exists in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more you, O you of little belief? “And do not seek what you shall eat or what you shall drink, and do not keep worrying. “For the gentiles of the world seek all these, and your Father knows that you need these. “But seek the reign of Elohim, and all these shall be added to you. “Do not fear, little flock, because your Father did delight to give you the reign. “Sell your possessions and give in kindness. Make yourselves purses which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief does come near nor moth destroys. “For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also.~Luke 12:22-34

Then those, indeed, who gladly received his word, were immersed. And on that day about three thousand beings were added to them. And they were continuing steadfastly in the teaching of the emissaries, and in the fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers. And fear came upon every being, and many wonders and signs were being done through the emissaries. And all those who believed were together, and had all in common, and sold their possessions and property, and divided them among all, as anyone might have need. And day by day, continuing with one mind in the Set-apart Place, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising Elohim and having favour with all the people. And the Master added to the assembly those who were being saved, day by day.~Acts 2:41-47

But in the meantime His taught ones were asking Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” And He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” Then the taught ones said to each other, “Did anyone bring Him food to eat?” Yeshua said to them, “My food is to do the desire of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work. “Do you not say, ‘There are still four months, and the harvest comes’? See, I say to you, lift up your eyes and see the fields, for they are white for harvest – already! “He who is reaping receives a reward, and gathers fruit for everlasting life, so that both he who is sowing and he who is reaping rejoice together. “For in this the word is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ “I sent you to reap that for which you have not laboured. Others have laboured, and you have entered into their labours.”~John 4:31-38

On the next day, the crowd that was standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there except that one into which His taught ones had entered, and that Yeshua had not entered the boat with His taught ones, but His taught ones went away alone – but other boats came from Kinnereth, near the place where they ate bread after the Master had given thanks – therefore when the crowd saw that Yeshua was not there, nor His taught ones, they themselves also entered into the boats and came to Kephar Naḥum, seeking Yeshua. And having found Him on the other side of the sea, they asked Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?” Yeshua answered them and said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were satisfied. “Do not labour for the food that is perishing, but for the food that is remaining to everlasting life, which the Son of Aḏam shall give you, for the Father, The Holy One, has set His seal on Him.” So they said to Him, “What should we do to work the works of The Holy One?” Yeshua answered and said to them, “This is the work of The Holy One, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” ~John 6:22-29

To whom then will you liken The Holy One? To what likeness will you compare Him? To an idol? A craftsman casts it, a goldsmith overlays it with gold and fashions silver chains for it. One too poor for such an offering chooses wood that will not rot. He looks for a skilled craftsman to prepare him an idol that will not totter. Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told to you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? He sits above the circle of the earth— its inhabitants are like grasshoppers— He stretches out the skies like a curtain, spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. He reduces princes to nothing. He makes the judges of the earth a confusion. Scarcely are they planted, scarcely are they sown, scarcely their stem takes root in the earth, when He blows on them and they wither, and a storm carries them off as stubble. “To whom then will you liken Me? Or who is My equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, and see! Who created these? The One who brings out their host by number, the One who calls them all by name. Because of His great strength and vast power, not one is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel, “My way is hidden from The Holy One , and the justice due me escapes the notice of my G-d ”? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Holy One is the eternal G-d, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not grow tired or weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives strength to the weary, and to one without vigor He adds might. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but they who wait for Adonai will renew their strength. They will soar up with wings as eagles. They will run, and not grow weary. They will walk, and not be faint.~Isaiah 40:18-31

and from Messiah Yeshua , the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and made us a kingdom, kohanim to His G-d and Father—to Him be glory and power forever! Amen! “Look, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye shall see Him, even those who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth shall mourn because of Him. Yes, amen!” “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says Adonai Elohim , “Who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty!”~The Revelation 1:5-8

In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with G-d, and the Word was G-d.~John 1:1

Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came with her sons to Yeshua , and she was kneeling down and asking something from Him. “What do you want?” He said to her. She said to Him, “Declare that these two sons of mine might sit, one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your kingdom.” But Yeshua replied, “You don’t know what you’re asking! Are you able to drink the cup I am about to drink?” “We are able,” they say to Him. He said to them, “You shall indeed drink My cup. But to sit on My right and left, this isn’t Mine to grant. Rather, it’s for those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” Now when the ten heard, they became indignant with the two brothers. But Yeshua called them over and said, “You know that the rulers of the nations Lord it over them, and their great ones play the tyrant over them. It shall not be this way among you. But whoever wants to be great among you shall be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you shall be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”~Matthew 20:20-28

Therefore I appeal to the elders among you—as a fellow elder and witness of Messiah’s sufferings, and a partaker also of the glory about to be revealed— shepherd G-d’s flock among you. Watch over it not under compulsion but willingly before G-d , not for dishonest gain but eagerly. Don’t Lord it over those apportioned to you, but become examples to the flock. When the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown ? of glory.~1 Peter 5:1-4

So instead you should forgive him and encourage him. Otherwise such a person might be swallowed up by excessive sorrow. Therefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. For to this end I also wrote, that I might know your character, whether you are obedient in all things. Now anyone you forgive, I also forgive. For indeed, what I have forgiven (if I have forgiven anything), I did it for you in the presence of Messiah,~2 Corinthians 2:7-10

Every picture tells a story. Vayikra tells, And this is the work you have been called to do by the One, Who sits above the circle of the earth.

Through Him then, let us continually offer up a slaughter offering of praise to The Holy One, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His Name.~Hebrews 13:15
